It is expected that your employer would submit a letter and other documents to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Turkey within the lapse of three days of submitting your visa application. Foreigners, who had entered Turkey on tourist visas, had been working without valid work permits and would cross over the borders to move to the neighboring Bulgaria and Greece at the end of their visa period. Then they would re-enter Turkey with a new tourist visa valid for 90 days. To plug this misuse, the Turkish government has issued new visa regulations effective from January 12, 2012. As per the new regulation, the 90 day visa can be used in Turkey within any 180-day period. This will avoid anyone crossing over the border and come again applying for another 90 day tourist visa. Instead, you will have to apply for a residence visa at the Turkish consulate well in advance, and then you can arrive here and apply for a residence permit.
Note that once you arrive here with a work visa and apply for your residence permit, it may take about two months before your application is finalized. You are not allowed to leave Turkey unless you have a residence permit with you or you will have to pay some heavy fine. Therefore, it becomes necessary that you plan to stay in Marmaris Turkey for at least two months once you arrive here for work.
